🌿 In Memory
Cupcake
Female · Chihuahua
Cupcake was small enough to fit in a coat pocket and had the personality to fill a barn. She was fierce, loyal, and completely convinced of her own importance -- which, here, she had every right to be. She is missed in ways that are hard to put into words.
"Tiny dog. Enormous presence. Still missed."

Nanny
Female · Schnauzer
Nanny arrived at Soft Landing with the dignified bearing of a dog who had seen more of life than most. She spent her final days in a place where she was known by name, fed on a schedule, and loved without reservation. For a dog named Nanny, that was exactly right.
"Dignified to the end. She knew she was home."

Rooster Forever home
Rooster
Male · Boxer
Rooster was hit by a car as a puppy. His owner brought him to the vet, then walked out -- telling them to put Rooster down because he could not afford the surgery. The vet amputated the leg instead, then found us. He arrived at Soft Landing on three legs with an attitude that suggests he has never once considered feeling sorry for himself.
"Three legs. Zero complaints. Fastest dog on the property."

Sparks
Male · Miniature Poodle
Sparks had energy that matched his name -- always moving, always curious, always the first to notice when something new had arrived on the property. He brought a particular kind of life to Soft Landing that quieted when he left. The place remembers him.
"Always the first to notice. Always the last to settle down."

Sunny
Female · Shepherd Mix
Sunny came to us with the gentle soul of a dog who had already decided to trust people again, despite whatever had come before. She earned her name every single day -- warm, steady, and always nearby when someone needed her. Soft Landing was better for having her. We all knew it.
"She earned her name every single day."

Thunder Forever home
Thunder
Male · Miniature Poodle
Thunder is a miniature poodle with a gentle soul and some hard history behind him. He came to us showing signs that his previous life had not been kind, and he still startles easily around new people. He is getting better, steadily and on his own terms, and every small step forward is one he has earned entirely himself.
"He came in scared. He is getting less scared every day. That is enough."

Uintah Forever home
Uintah
Female · Great Pyrenees
The runt of her litter, Uintah had a case of soda dropped on her head as a newborn, triggering seizures that left her first family convinced she would not survive. Tracy brought her home and stayed up for weeks nursing her back to health. She made it. She is now our midnight guardian -- a Great Pyrenees who patrols the sanctuary every night, keeping watch over all 52 animals without being asked.
"Went from 'she won't make it' to guarding an entire sanctuary. She did not get the memo about giving up."
