Those who came before.
These animals lived at Soft Landing. Some arrived barely hanging on. All of them found something they hadn't had before: a soft place to land. They are not forgotten.
Cupcake
Cupcake was small enough to fit in a coat pocket and had the personality to fill a barn. She was fierce, loyal, and completely convinced of her own importance -- which, here, she had every right to be. She is missed in ways that are hard to put into words.
Drax
Drax was one of our earliest sheep, part of the flock before Soft Landing was what it is today. He was quiet and steady -- the kind of presence you don't notice until it's gone. When he passed, we didn't have the heart to leave his name behind entirely. A piece of him lives on in every sheep that walks this pasture.
Nanny
Nanny arrived at Soft Landing with the dignified bearing of a dog who had seen more of life than most. She spent her final days in a place where she was known by name, fed on a schedule, and loved without reservation. For a dog named Nanny, that was exactly right.
Odette
Odette came to us alongside her brother Opal, rescued from conditions no living thing should endure. She fought hard, and we fought alongside her. In the end it wasn't enough -- but her brother made it, and he carries her with him every day. Odette never had a safe home. She came close.
Sparks
Sparks had energy that matched his name -- always moving, always curious, always the first to notice when something new had arrived on the property. He brought a particular kind of life to Soft Landing that quieted when he left. The place remembers him.
Sunny
Sunny came to us with the gentle soul of a dog who had already decided to trust people again, despite whatever had come before. She earned her name every single day -- warm, steady, and always nearby when someone needed her. Soft Landing was better for having her. We all knew it.
